How to Improve the Tensioning Performance of Anchorage Systems

Anchorage, as a critical piece of equipment in industrial production, has a tensioning efficiency that significantly impacts the overall operational efficiency of the system. Therefore, during routine using, it is essential to regularly check whether its tensioning performance meets our construction and application requirements. How to improve the tensioning efficiency of anchorage is also a frequently encountered issue for us at Tianjin Prestressed Anchorage during the construction process.

Steel strands must not exhibit severe corrosion. If pitting or rust spots are present, the strength of the strands will be compromised, leading to wire breakage during tensioning. In the tensioning and anchorage zone, surface rust, cement slurry, and debris on the steel strands must be cleaned off to ensure proper anchorage. Before tensioning, check that the reserved ducts are clear and whether there is any grout leakage into the corrugated ducts. If grout leakage has blocked the ducts, it must be thoroughly removed. Particular attention should be paid to cleaning the trumpet-shaped opening of the anchor plate at both ends of the duct.

The connection between the corrugated duct and the anchor plate must only be made to the straight section of the hole at the small end of the anchor plate; it must not extend into the trumpet-shaped section. Any excess corrugated duct protruding into the trumpet must be cut away.

Jack, oil pump, and pressure gauge must be calibrated as a set before use. If the pressure gauge is impacted or replaced during use, recalibration is necessary. If the measured elongation during tensioning deviates significantly from the design value, the accuracy of the pressure gauge should be verified. Applying force to the jack without load is strictly prohibited.

Anchors and wedges must be stored properly on-site, protected from moisture and rust. If severe corrosion occurs on the teeth of the wedges, they must not be used. During handling and use, avoid contact with mud or sand.

The steel strands between the tool anchor and the working anchor must not be crossed, as this will affect anchorage performance. When using the tool anchor, be sure to apply a layer of paraffin wax to the outer conical surface of the tool anchor wedges to facilitate wedge release after tensioning.
